Environment

Ca s’Arader is situated on the Portal de sa Font street, in the heart of Ciutadella, just a few meters away from where one of the 5 entrances to the medieval city was. The Bastió (bastion) de sa Font, the current headquarters to Ciutadella’s Municipal Museum, is one of the few remains left of the old fort city wall.

If we make our way into the historic town center, we can see interesting architectonic samples of different periods of history amongst which stand out the religious buildings such as the Cathedral (14th century) or the Els Socors, Sant Crist and Sant Francesc churches, all from the 17th century, as well as the Cas Baró, Ca n’Olivar, Can Saura-Morell and Cas Duc palaces (17th -18th centuries).

Public areas such as Ses Voltes, the Plaça Nova or the Plaça des Born squares also bear witness to the rich history of a city that was Menorca’s administrative, aristocratic and religious power for a long period of time and that today, alongside Maó, continues to carry out an important role in the islands territorial organisation.

With a population of close to 30,000 citizens, Ciutadella currently concentrates an important part of the island’s economic activity. It is, in fact, the touristic nucleus and one of the most important municipalities with regards to the shoe and agricultural food industries.

When it comes to nature, it also plays an important role. Within its municipality, which covers an area of 186km2 of Menorca’s 702km2 , one can find some of the most beautiful coastal areas of the whole island, such as the stretch that takes us along the beaches of Son Saura, Es Talaier, Cala en Turqueta, Macarella and Macarelleta.

BIOSPHERE RESERVE

Menorca’s unique and rich landscapes and environment, alongside its excellent levels of conservation in a highly populated area, were recognised by UNESCO in 1993 when the island was declared a Biosphere Reserve. A title which differentiates territories that present a sustainable development, i.e., that make their economic growth compatible with preserving the environment.

The stay was excellent! The treatment from the moment of the booking (very friendly and professional contact from Puri) to the check out was exquisite. The delicacy and delivery of Pedro, the owner of the hotel, is to be admired. The passion, enthusiasm and humility with which he treats his clients is very difficult to find today. He is the best host as well as the best Menorca tour guide we know! Each and every one of the places he recommended was the right thing to do. Restaurants, beaches, shops, opportunities to buy the famous Abarcas de Menorca or the dancers who make famous a brand there. Spectacular! We will definitely return. Thanks for everything Puri and Pedro! We wish you the very best.

Just a lovely place and a wonderful family. You feel like staying at home, but with better foos and nicer design than "at home" (at least in my place). Not to mention the nicest town of Menorca.

Fantastic !! The hotel is simply perfect, very quiet, the room is very clean and spacious, and the excellent bed! The most comfortable hotel we've ever been! The attention of the owners is fantastic and you feel really as at home! It is a small secret of Menorca that has made our trip unforgettable for life!
